Today we ran a custom charter tour for an end of year staff trip for the K’ak’ot’lats’i School.
We started the trip by heading out west where we found quite a few sea otter mothers and pups. We were scanning for blow as we headed to an isolated sea lion haul-out and we found three separate humpback whales. While we didn’t get very good photos of the whales, we still send them to the Marine Education and Research Society as they can often identify the individual whales even for low quality photos.
There we lous of se lions at the haul-out plus cormorants, pigeon guillemots, gulls, and nesting bald eagles.
As we returned to port Hardy we came across a sea otter dining on crab.
