Today was a beautiful sunny day and both Coastal Rainforest Safaris and our sister company, Sea Wolf Adventures, brought out students from the Gwasala Nakwaxdaxw School here in Port Hardy! We love bringing kids into their homelands!
Before we got very far we stopped to watch sea otters and as we headed west in Goletas Channel we watched a black bear foraging among the beach rocks at low tide.
We had a nice walk on Hope Island, home of the Tlatlasikwala First Nation, where we had lunch on Roller Bay. Back on the boat we stopped by a large haul-out of sea lions on our way to the Deserter and Walker Islands. Near the end of the trip we spotted a humpback whale which we identified as Cutter with the help of the Marine Education and Research Society.
